Wil Maring and virtuoso guitarist & fiddler Robert Bowlin have been recently combining talents to create beautiful original acoustic music which straddles the fence between bluegrass, folk, jazz, and country music. Wil’s airy vocals and heartfelt lyrics have raised eyebrows in the acoustic music world with the release of her three solo cds, a duo cd, and four band cds. Wil has become a highly acclaimed songwriter, a previous winner of the prestigious Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at Merlefest and a Kerrville New Fold finalist. She has appeared on the Grand Ole Opry with her original music, in addition to touring extensively in Europe and Japan. For a decade, she honed her songwriting skills playing music professionally in Europe with her group Shady Mix. Robert, a 2-time National Fingerpicking & Flatpicking Guitar contest winner, has been a band member with legendary artists like Bill Monroe, Maura O’Connell, Kathy Mattea, the Osbourne Brothers, Tom T. Hall, and many more. Wil Maring website

New venue in Omaha
Updated
July 23, 2007
INTIMATE MUSIC VENUE INVITES ACOUSTIC ARTISTS, FOLK GROUPS.
The blight of appropriate venues for traditional musicians has plagued
Omaha until now, and the vaccine comes in the form of The Benson Grind.
Located in the heart of Historic Benson, this stylish coffeeshop, cafe and
art gallery has embraced the local traditional music scene and is currently
seeking talent to fill available dates.
"The Grind is not trying to compete with the typical music venues," says
proprietor Allan Zeeck, "we're looking for Old-Time, Folk, Bluegrass and
related genres who need a cozier, more intimate place to play. It's perfect
for the traditional musician and the acoustics in here are incredible. We'd
love to have any music clubs meet here as well."
Poetry readings and spoken word nights are also being scheduled.
All interested parties are encouraged to contact Tob Wood via email
bensongrind@gmail.com for further details.
